Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Text entered in a search tool, such as a location or identifying search term, is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep or record those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, the message is retained as needed to answer it. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical information each time a visitor loads a page, including:
- The visit date and time for each page view
- Your device category and operating system
- The referring website, when one is reported
- Your browser type and version
- The pages viewed and the time spent on them
- The Internet Protocol address used by your device
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic in aggregate, including which Lapeer County pages are used most and where visits end. No Criminal-Record Data on File
We neither create nor sell a personal criminal-record database. Lapeer County content identifies the official custodians, including the Sheriff, county trial courts, Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center, and Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Michigan's criminal-history collection framework includes MCL 28.242, while access to county public records is governed by the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq. Those government systems are separate from visitor data. We do not turn a visit into a file about another person or a consumer report, and we are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes displayed here. Information submitted through a box is handled under that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office, MiCOURT, Michigan State Police, legal-aid resources, or an outside search service. Once you follow an external link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for interest-based advertising. We do not operate that tracking.

Lapeer County Criminal History is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it promptly.
